Fragmented Narrative:Leaving players enormous space to reasoning and to imagine.

Generally, text, comic, video and game are the main carrier of story nowadays.

Text, which only use word to describe a story, would leave a enough space for reader to imagine. For example:

"A big garden with various flowers"

After reading this sentence, readers would create different scenes in their minds. The color, number and shape of flowers would be diverse in readers' minds. Therefore, text is just a catalyst, making reader create a  unique scene in their mind.

Comic is a more specific way to narrate a story to readers. Compare to text, comic would describe a more consistent scene to different readers, more specific but less space to imagine.
The battle in Final Valley between Naruto and Sasuke
In this page, the emotion of Naruto can be presented completely. Naruto's anger(veins and eyes) and sorrow(tears), the unbelievable power from Kyuubi, the shock of Sasuke. All of these can be conveyed to readers easily, which would help different readers imagine a similar scene.

Video, especially, movie, which is added the sound element, creating a more complete enjoyment for audiences. Everyone would be presented a same scene, making that they are likely to have a same feeling.

Game, which is the newest story carrier of 21st century. It contains narrative of text, picture, and video. Interactivity is the vital feature of game, which is different from other medium. Sense of participation is the thing that players can get from this medium.

Fragmented Narrative is a kind of narrative used in game, which have these features.

At first, it has a main story which is relative linear. Player would follow the main story to arrive the end of the game. Generally, the main story here would provide very limited information to players. But, on the same timeline, there are many stories happening in other places. If player know more about these stories, they would have a more clear understanding of the main story and the world of game.

Second, Fragmented Narrative would incorporate the story telling into the scene. <Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice> is a good example for Fragmented Narrative.
  Story telling by items:

By the describe of the persimmon, we can know that that the rice is from the blood of the Child of Rejuvenation.

Story telling by skills:
Why Isshin Ashina says that his cross can sever the arm of Shura?
Does Shura exist? Who is the Shura?

Story telling by the place of enemies:
Why the Lone Shadows would be there?

Why the Nightjar Ninja would be there?

Apart from these, the name of NPC and enemies, the chat, the scenes, the skill of enemies can tell palyers a more complete story.
If the main story like buildings in the fog, all of these fragmented elements would be keys to help players get rid of the fog and know the truth. It would leave a enormous space for players to reasoning and imagine. Finally, people would have many different understanding of the story, which would create a more clear world of the game.
